Managing PartnerRomeo Uriarte is a managing partner at Uriarte & Carr LLP. He attended Rutgers University and received a Bachelors of Art in Economics in 1987. Thereafter, Mr. Uriarte attended the University of San Francisco School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctor degree. He was admitted to practice law in California in 1995 and has been a continuing member of the State Bar of California since that time. He is a California Bar Certified Specialist in Workers Compensation.
Mr. Uriarte has been representing clients who have California workers compensation cases including Federal Longshore cases since 1992 when he was in law school working as an intern. After graduating law school he worked at Mayen & Green as an attorney and thereafter at Russo & Cassetta. In 1999 he became a partner at Russo, Uriarte & Carr LLP. In 2001 there was a substantial change in partnership and staff and the new firm of Uriarte & Carr LLP was founded by Mr. Uriarte and Sarah Carr.
He is an active member of CAAA which is the largest organization of attorneys in California that represents clients with Workers Compensation cases and has been a member since 1995.
He continues to attend educational seminars throughout the year which are sponsored by CAAA. Mr. Uriarte has also served as a Judge Pro Tem at the Oakland Workers Compensation Appeals Board in the past.
Mr. Uriarte has extensive experience in workers compensation law and represents clients from all walks of life and from many various vocations. He has represented clients in hundreds of depositions to trials and up through appeals and to the Supreme Court of California. He has been published in several cases as well as in the case of, Kaiser Found. Hosps. v. Workers Compensation Appeals Bd. (Berman)(2000) 65 Cal.Comp.Cases 563 which helped define Labor Code Sec. 3208.3 as well as the Becerra case in Federal Longshore.

Sarah Carr is now a retired partner of Uriarte & Carr LLP. She has taken on a new appointment as a Judge at the Workers Compensation Appeals Board. She continues to pursue her passion in the law and the fair application of the law to all parties who appear before her at the WCAB.
She was a 33 year veteran in the workers compensation field and had been an attorney and partner of the firm for 26 years. She is a certified specialist in workers compensation law . She had extensive experience in handling a wide breadth of cases and was an accomplished trial attorney.
Ms. Carr was a member of the California Applicant's Attorney Association. She had served as an expert on many panels for CAAA at their educational seminars and has spoken on many facets of workers compensation laws and other legal topics. Ms. Carr is fluent in the Spanish language and was dedicated to representing her clients. Ms. Carr also represented clients in Federal Longshore cases.
Sarah Carr obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). She graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude. She was invited into and is a member of the prestigious honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. After UCLA, Ms. Carr obtained her Juris Doctor degree at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She became a member of the California Bar Association in 1992 and has been a practicing attorney since then. Ms. Carr was one of the founders and was a senior partner at Uriarte & Carr LLP.
