Ms. Ruby began her career practicing labor and employment law at Foley & Lardner in San Francisco after graduating with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). Seeking work directly with individual employees, she moved to workers’ compensation in 2000 and has remained loyal to injured workers since then.  As Of Counsel at Uriarte & Carr, Ms. Ruby drafts persuasive medical-legal correspondence; provides legal research and writing services; and, performs a variety of other supportive tasks for the partners and associate to help the firm’s clients obtain the benefits they are entitled to and move their claims to resolution.

Before attending law school, Ms. Ruby worked in the legal profession as a civil litigation paralegal, having obtained an Attorney Assistant Certificate, along with a Bachelor of Arts in English with honors, cum laude, from California State University, Sonoma.  While in law school, she received a Moot Court Advocacy Award as well as a Prosser Prize in Community Law Practice at the Berkeley Community Law Center.  She was an extern in the Chambers of the Honorable Charles A. Legge, United States District Court; volunteer at the East Bay Workers’ Rights Clinic; and, a founding member of the Health Care Law Society.  Outside of law school, Ms. Ruby’s volunteer work has included assisting victims of domestic violence obtain restraining orders and she also became certified as a HICAP Counselor (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) at Legal Assistance for Seniors in Oakland.

. Ruby is currently a member of the California Applicants Attorneys Association and California State Bar.   She devotes her continuing legal education to workers’ compensation, staying up-to-date on changes in the law and deepening her extensive knowledge of the practice
